80s Love Songs

These are the best love songs that I grew up with and left great memories even till now I would still listen to them especially when I am in one of those moods..enjoy !

Christmas

Christmas is coming....
Every mall in the city is competing to exhibit their very own creation of christmas decoration...walking and sinked into the mood is such a great feeling...though I was never a Christian but growing up with cousins who celebrate Christmas, it became a ritual for the family since I was a kid. Remembering those childhood days where we will spend our year end
holiday in Kulim and one of the senior will act as Santa Claus giving out those presents.

It was such a joyous ocassion and now we have grown older and cousins are married and have their own families and no longer staying in Malaysia. I just missed those good old days being one big family !

What have I done ? Good and bad !

Another week about to end and I started to think what have I done this week and what have I achieved, and what are the good things that I have done for myself, people who cares for me, my work and my family.

While we are all busy with our own agenda, thoughts and worries, I realised at times I tend to focus on less important issues.  At times in life, we need to have the clarity and to be sure of what's there for us.

I been trying to act on free wills and follow my heart but I am always doubtful. This morning unable to sleep, woke up very early and my mind was all about what happened in the week. Later in the day as I was driving my daughter, suddenly I realised I missed driving her to school. And I realised how much she could cheer me up and kept me company being chatty.

When we got used to something in life, it is always difficult to adapt when changes took place. The people, environment, routines and things.  People who has always warmed our heart, had stopped doing so, enviroment that has been so comfortable, but now feel out of place and no sense of belongings, and etc.  I need some time to adjust myself, I know I can do it but with courages.

When I feel so miserable, I tried to divert my attention and focus, at times I find it hard to open up with my family as they have seen what I have gone through, I kept to myself with tears rolling down when the mood is affecting me.  My poor kids have seen me crying..I desperately need to balance and it makes it even harder especially when all things are not in favour including my bread and butter.

Life is so unpredictable, seems like everything not in favour are happening all together,  personal life, relationship and work.

The good thing is I am glad I have my devotion to religion to keep me hang in there, read about attachment.  It is really difficult and it takes lots of mental ability to control.  Met up with Chief and updated him my situation, he shared with me his view and blessing for me that everything will be over soon and free from sufferings.

Another good thing is my daughter's long awaited ballet concert is happening tomorrow..can't wait to see her performing on stage and be a proud mom.

When I Fall In Love

Couldn't sleep well lately and woke up early !

Suddenly I remember the show "Sleepless In Seattle" and its soundtrack "When I Fall In Love" !

Though I am not in Seattle, but the song means something to me !

Just to share with all of you !

Miss You Like Crazy

Remember once a friend shared with me how he felt for his girl friend "Cant sleep last night, toss and turn for you, wish we could be one soon..."

I can imagine when one unable to sleep...hope he has overcome this and is happy now !

Good days where are you ?

Good days where are you ?  I really missed those great days I had.

It has been like this for me for the past few days, feeling miserable, confused, lost and troubled !

A few times I wanted to do something following my heart then again i felt my intuition may not be right and i decided not to do it ! Have you guys ever felt that way ?!

Why do i feel like this ? I think I know why : i am not sure and fear of making mistake and can't bear the consequences ! Each time after I follow my heart, I regreted and fear for the worst.

When can i regain that confident and be myself again ?   I have been reading many self help books, motivational and inspirational, trying to bring myself back on track.  Listening to my favourite chants again, my colleague asked me how could you listen to chants in the morning,I should be listening to upbeat songs.. well my simple answer was I seek calmness while practising devotion for religion..and I enjoyed doing it in the morning !

Great and happy days are ahead of me...I am sure it will come sooner or later !

Lost

Truly I am lost all alone..

Feeling lost !
Have you ever felt so lost ?
Not sure about everything,
There is so much I wanted to know !

Are we meant for each other ?
Are we missing each other ?

How to overcome your difficulties

I have been a little unhappy due to some incidents..and picked up this book from my bed side by Ven Dr. K Sri Dhammananda about "How to overcome your difficulties". I have read a couple of books written by the same respectable author.

Sometimes I realised we take things for granted and the best thing is just next to me and take this little book for example, I have not noticed the presence of this little blue book next to me that may inspire and guide me.

Everything happens for a reason and the first flip directed to this page, the topic that is related to me and my confusion ! Below is what the author has written in this book that I like to remind myself and have it written down on my blog.

Returning Good for Evil...

If you want to get rid of your enemies you should first kill your anger which is the greatest enemy within you.

On the other hand, if you are going to be perturbed hearing from your enemies, it means you are fulfilling the wishes of your enemies by unknowingly entering into their trap.

You should not think that you can only learn something from those who praise and help you and associate with you very closely. There are many things you could learn from your enemies also. You should not think they are entirely wrong just because they happen to be your enemies. They may also possess certain good qualities.

You will not be able to get rid of your enemies by returning evil for evil. If you do that, then you will be only inviting more enemies. The best and the most correct method for overcoming your enemies will be by radiating your kindness towards them. You may think that this is impossible or something nonsensical. But this method is very highly appreciated by every cultured man. When you come to know that there is someone who is very angry with you, you should first try to find out the main cause of that enmity. If it is due to your mistake, you should admit it and should not hesitate to apologise to him. If it is due to certain misunderstandings between you both, you must have a heart-to-heart talk with him and try to enlighten him. If it is due to jealousy or some other emotional feeling, you must try to radiate metta (loving-kindness) towards him so that you will be able to influence him through your mental thought waves. You may not be able to understand how it works but through the experience of many people it has been shown that this is them most powerful, intelligent and easiest way which is very highly recommended in the Buddha Dhamma.

Of course, to do this you must have confidence and patience in yourself. By doing this you will be able to make your enemy understand that he is in the wrong. Besides, you are also benefited in various ways by not accommodating enmity in your heart.

Metta Meditation Class

Just attended the Friday Metta Meditation class at Bandar Utama Buddhist Society (BUBS) and this evening, I have my friend Lilian and my sister with me.

Presence tonight to guide us was a Bhante from Lumpini Garden in Puchong. He gave us an insight of the benefits of performing metta meditation.  He mentioned many, and some that I could remember are :

1. Easy to sleep
2. No night mares
3. Friendly and kind person
4. Spirits will not disturb
5. Always be happy and feel serene

I have started listening to Metta Chant since 10 years ago, then I was driving my blue Kancil and it only came with cassette player, I played this chant almost everyday on the way to work.   Probably that is why I hardly have sleeping disorder..hehe.

Bhante guided us through the class speaking softly, sharing with us the easy way to begin metta meditation.  It is important to radiate the loving kindness thoughts that come to us especially after some practising.  Once we have the loving kindness in us, it would be natural for us to let the loving kindness thought flows and radiates to all, seeing all beings well, be happy, free from suffering and danger.

It has been a great week for me overall, I am so happy that my meditation is improving.

Sadhu, Sadhu, Sadhu  !

Satisfaction

I haven't had this feeling for awhile...

For the past 4 months, I have been working hard on a project with Ministry of Health and the conference finally concluded yesterday.   Not sure about others, but I would pass the event with 90% as I see many smiling faces from the speakers  to delegates and organiser.  What a relief :-)

Couldn't express how I felt when the closing remarks were made.  I knew my worries, complaint, unhappiness are finally over and it is time to shake hands to everyone, showing gratitudes for those who have made it a success..sweat out and worked hard over the months.

During these 2 days, some of them called me "Mrs. Fix It"...haha, I kinda like it as it has been my nature to fix things up and put thing in the right perspetive.  Mostly importantly seeing those BIG SMILE on their faces.

I always believe if I have decided to do it, I will do it to the best, ensuring everyone is happy be it the vendor, client and others.  Last evening, the foreign speakers came to me,  asking for some advice where should they go for local food, recommended where to walk nearby the hotel but thought over the challenge of them finding the right one, I offered to walk them there and ordered some food too.

It is all worth it...they came back to the hotel and told me, the dinner has been great, thank you so much for your help.

I feel good !
I am so satisfied !

May you live happily and peacefully

This evening as I got into the car, heard my sms alert..read the content of the sms, didn't really understand but it was disturbing and confusing one.

So I called the friend who text me and to my disappointment, it was actually not a good news. My school mate had a heart failure and it happened just 3 months ago right after she gave birth to her4th child.

Life is so unexpected...few months back, another school mate committed suicide and left the wife and a 1 year old son.  Why did he die ? No one actually has the answer !  And just heard from another friend, my classmate has been diagnosed with breast cancer.   No wonder I decided to have my mamogram done...scare to die young.. haha !

In our life, apart from being unhappy about our work, people who agitates us and unpleasnat situation, these are just little ups and downs in life that we can ignore and forget...but if we are stricken with sickness.....so what is so bad about work compares to our HEALTH.

Health is all about our life...to lead a happy life, we need to eat well, sleep well, take balanced nutrition meal and most importantly our life style.   But I also believe the inner peace and positiveness is very important and that is what holding on to my emotions not to the extreme either way.  Nowadays, no matter how unhappy,  I will first try to stay cool and calm, and it doesn't really border me, unless it is beyond what I can hold on...I choose to cry outloud and it helps.  Perhaps this is the good thing about ladies..we can cry !

Handling yourself with gentleness

I have this little book about LOVE IS ALL ABOUT YOU !

And I want to share this !

Love goes hand-in-hand with kindness and gentleness.
Whenever you are tired, sad, moody or angry
Handle yourself with gentleness.
Be kind and gentle with your actions and speech
Pamper yourself with loving touch
A hug or a massage
(Even if you have no one to hug, just give yourself one!)

Love is an act of endless forgiveness,
A tender look which becomes a habit

Ki Ki So So

This afternoon I was in a bookshop hunting for a book and while deciding on which book to purchase, I spent some time listening to some buddhism chant, mantra and song. And I came across an album by Ravena Michaelson, an American singing dharma songs and the first title was Ki Ki So So.

This song brought back some memories of my trip to Northern Indian, a small town called Leh in Ladakh, located in the state of Northern India, Jammu and Kashmir, which is the south of the Great Himalayan and border of Tibet.  Ladakh is famously known as "Little Tibet" and without reading from any book, you can claim as you see for what is famous for.

We have a local Ladakhi guide and he speaks Tibetan and our entire journey was very much driving over ranges and mountain to reach our final city - Sri Nagar located in Kashmir Valley before we flew back to New Delhi.  Passing by the mountain, there were many stupas and place of worship, and I remember at the highest peak of the trip, my guide suggested to us to devote and make a wish and to chant Ki Ki So So Lha Gyal Lo, a Tibetan chant that means Victory to the God.  As I am always observant of the surrounding, I noticed most of the transporter trucks written Ki Ki So So on the front of the vehicle, that tells if the truck is originated from Ladakh or Jammu which is highly populated by Muslim.

I did my prayer and devotion and I believe my prayer had been answered and I am so grately and blessed.

  2. Reconnected with Metta meditation class.
  3. Through Dhamma, I have learned something about mindfulness, attachment.
  4. Recalling some events took place yesterday that left great memories in me.
  5. Seen some improvement in my son's report card, though not excellent, overall he has improved in many areas, most important is his courage.
  6. Metta loving kindness to all including loved ones and enemies...including those who have hurt me before...

Lemongrass Juice

Have you tried this before ?

Recently I had this conversation with a friend about lemongrass juice.  I loved it very much and I recalled my first sip was at Passion Road located in Damansara Heights.  It was a lovely restaurant, very impressive ambience for a private event.

Few months back I was conducting a food tasting with my client at a 5 star hotel, it was a western menu and surprising chef suggesting to try out lemongrass juice to compliment the dinner...Somehow, it wasn't accepted by the client..felt a bit weird, supposed to be a fusion menu.

And just 2 weeks ago,  I tried at a kopitiam in Bangsar serves excellent lemongrass with ginger...but be prepared for the 'unexpected fart' after that... :-)

Since I love lemongrass juice so much, I found this useful information on the net about the benefit of Align Rightlemongrass....hope you will enjoy as much as I do.  Next time when I make the juice, I will offer to share with you if you share your comments that you like to try...haha !

Lemon grass or the local tanglad (scientific name: Cymbopogon ciatrus) is one of those wondrous herbs that one can always associate with Asian cooking Thai, Malaysian and Vietnamese homegrown meal enthusiasts always have this tropical grass at hand for its aromatic citrus flavor with a trace of ginger. Few people know that its other popular name is citronella - the common scent you usually find in candles, perfumes and soaps.

Citronella is known for its calming effect that relieves insomnia or stress. It is also considered as a mild insect repellant. But more than scent, tanglad or lemon grass provides a lot of health benefits. Studies have shown that the lemon grass has antibacterial and antifungal properties. Mixed with pepper, it's a home therapy for menstrual troubles and nausea. Drank as tea, it is an effective diuretic. When it comes to pets, citronella is used to neutralize excessive barking of dogs. Since dogs hate citronella, it is sprayed to dogs to prevent them from barking or just to lessen the behavior.

The Lemon grass is a good cleanser that helps to detoxify the Liver, pancreas, kidney, bladder and the digestive tract. It cuts down uric acid, cholesterol, excess fats and other toxins in the body while stimulating digestion, blood circulation, and lactation; it also alleviates indigestion and gastroenteritis. It is said that lemongrass also helps improve the skin by reducing acne and pimples and acts as a muscle and tissue toner. Also, it can reduce blood pressure. Just make a concoction by boiling some lemon grass leaves, let it cool for a while and drink the liquid.

The leaves and base of this tender perennial are used as a food flavoring, particularly in fish and poultry dishes, and its essential oils are used medicinally. Its distinctive flavor balances hot chillies and contributes to the elaborate, multi-layered flavors of many dishes in South East Asian cuisine.

As the long, thin, grey-green leaves are tough and fibrous, the outside leaves and the tips are usually chopped very finely or discarded from the dish before it is served. The base is often ground. Citral, an essential oil also found in lemon peel, is the constituent responsible for its taste and aroma.

Lemon grass, also known as Sweet Rush and sometimes called Fever Grass in the Caribbean, can be used as a remedy for ague, fevers, and colds.
